¿tiene la fe?" or "Do you have Faith?"
Ok, so I’m going to
change the normal format and start with a crazy cool experience that I had.
Yesterday we had to go to 6 hours of church 3 in Altos de san lorenzo and 3 in
Los Hornos 2. The two wards meet in the same building and there is two hours in
between the two. We ended up staying in the chapel for 8 hours!
On Saturday there was
a rain storm that was huge, but when we left for the church there was blue
skies. We were in our suits and biked to the church. When we left we gave our
suits and everything to the other Elders who live with us to take back to the
pench and we set out. Shortly after leaving it started to rain lightly. Right
when we got to the first appointment it started raining heavily. We rushed
inside and heard the raindrops getting bigger on the tin roofed house of the
member. When we finished the lesson with him it started raining even harder and
we knew we were in trouble. We were in short sleeved shirts and did not have
any rain gear. It was a huge storm. Elder Neser and I started talking, thinking
about what we could do to overcome the storm and I said, "¿tiene la
fe?" or "Do you have Faith?". Elder Neser said yes and we said a
short prayer and when we said Amen the rain did not stop, but it turned into a
mist so that we did not get too wet. We were able to keep working and were able
to find many people to teach! The rain stopped for the last 30 minutes of
working. Then when we were heading back to the pench it started raining again, but
only a mist. The assistants called at 9:00 so that I could send the numbers in
and we were still on the way home, (still ok to be out) as I passed the numbers
in a phone call Elder Neser noticed something really cool. One block in either
direction it was raining really hard but where we were it was only misting. When
I finished the report, he told me and we were able to get back to the pench
safely. I literally saw the hand of God in my life this week!!!! He is
directing this work!
This
last week has been full of many interesting experiences. I have learned many
lessons this week mainly about humility. With all of the responsibilities I
have, in order to do everything, I have had to rely on God because I can’t do everything.
But he can! I know that this is the true church, that Russel M. Nelson is a
prophet of God, he receives revelation for the whole earth and I am so glad
that we have the chance to watch conference this week! I know that Jesus is the
Christ, the son of God and that he suffered for all the earth. All our pains afflictions
and sins, he took over him. He loves us and will never forget us because as he
said "pues te tengo grabado en las palmas de mis manos." I love him.
I know that he also loves all of us. LOVE Elder Cahoon ("como elder
kajon, pero no kajon, cahoon")
