Baptisms, Transfers and now I'm a Zone Leader, oh my!
This week was crazy awesome. We started out with an
intercambio, in Florencio Varela B. I got the opportunity to work with Elder
Lee. He is a stud and they will have a ton of success in the next six weeks. On
Wednesday we ran back and forth, in Varela to our chapel and then to lunch in
our farthest area, to our pench in Zeballos and then back to Varela for a baptismal
interview and then to our farthest area again to go to an appointment. By that
time our day was over and we had to go back to the pench. Thursday, we had
interviews with President Gifford who asked me "Do you think Elder Torres
is ready to be a Senior Comp?". I replied yes and he said that he would
pray about that. We will get to the response later. I had the opportunity to
interview a baptismal candidate for the Zone Leaders. We also had 6 baptismal
interviews, five for the Familia Contrera and one for Jorge Garcia. Friday
after weekly planning we had an intercambio with the Zone Leaders and it was
really awesome to work with them. Saturday, we spent all day filling the font
and preparing for the baptism of Jorge. He wanted me to baptize him and it was
a really cool experience. His story is amazing and I can’t believe that I had
the opportunity to meet this awesome family. We then went to the baptism of
Edmundo the man I did the baptismal interview for in Varela.
Saturday after the
baptisms we went back to the pench and ate Ice cream. As we were eating the
Zone Leaders got a call that we knew was coming but were not sure when. We knew
that of us four, Elder Morre would go home and that Elder Perez would receive a
new companion. We thought that Elder Torres would leave because he has had six
months in Bosques. We also thought that I would get a baby, or a missionary who
I would train. We got the Calls and the assistants said "Elder Torres Se
Va......... a....... Recibir un BEBE!!!!!!! Elder Cahoon Se Va muy
lejos........ a .....( as I’m thinking the coast) asklñjfhañsdfh" there
was a ton of cheering. We asked them to repeat and they did "LOS
HORNOS!!!!!!!!! Y su nuevo compañero" Elder Perez and Elder Morre cut in
saying ELDER LIMA!!!!!!!!! I was so excited!!!!
I was so surprised
with the changes! This area is a place that not a lot of young missionaries go.
Elder Stewart was the first young missionary to go here in a long time. With
this area I have a cool new responsibility. I am a Zone Leader. I am extremely excited for the future in Los Hornos and can’t wait to see what happens. Elder Lima will
be going home in one and a half transfers and so I will probably be his last
companion.
Sunday, I said my
goodbyes and filled the font. I was able to baptize Nelida and Iera, the mom
and one of the daughters. Elder Torres was able to baptize the two other
daughters Yamila y Maeia. I got back to the pench and quickly packed. Elder
Perez and Elder Lima were there because they both had to go to Quilmes to drop
off their comps, and so they came back together. Today we left early for La
Plata ran back and forth getting people from point A to point B. We then came
back to the pench and left for the chapel to use the computers to write you
guys. I just want you to know that I know that I am right where I need to be. I
am excited to see what the future holds. I know this church is true and that
this is the work of God. He leads and guides this church and can help us with
all of our problems.
Love Elder Cahoon
