"Elder Cahoon Se va!, a quedar"

So, the subject of this email is what I heard on the phone on Saturday. For those of you that don’t speak Spanish this means, "Elder Cahoon you’re going! to stay". I was so happy to hear that! I love this area and will forever remember it as the place I was born (in the mission); the place I celebrated my first Christmas; my first two (at least) baptisms; my first six months; and my first birthday! There are a ton of people I love down here and I guess God knows that I just wasn’t ready to say goodbye yet. That also means that there is some reason that I am supposed to be here and I intend to find it.

Elder Smith, Elder Benincosa and Elder Peixe are staying in Quilmes but Elder Peixe changed areas. He went from 2C to 1B, or the zone leaders’ area. Elder Benincosa´s new companion is Elder Gonzales.

This week was very interesting. We had the opportunity to teach two families that I am very excited for. The first one we found in our villa Edmonte. They live down a pasillo (almost like a hallway that connects houses in the middle to the main roads) that many people don’t go down unless they live there because there is a sanja (sewer) that runs right through the middle. We had a feeling to explore this pasillo and found a lot of people to teach. We have been working in that villa a little bit more, but we have another family that is progressing really well as well in our other area that is like a villa but a little richer. This is the family that I talked about in one of my last emails who we answered her prayer by teaching some teens in front of her house and her boyfriend is a member. This family is doing great. I think that they will get baptized this transfer. They are going to take out a date to get married this week. I am excited because if they do that this week we will see them get married and baptized this transfer.

This transfer we will be visiting a man who is in the hospital in our area and has been for 6 months now. We learned about him when we got a call from some Elders in Florencio Varela and they asked me and Elder Glenn to go visit him. We did, and he told us he had been in there for 4 months and was going to be out in a week or two, and so because of that we sort of forgot about him and then the Elders asked us to go again Sunday last week. We did and he was still there. We talked to him and now the doctors say he will be in there for 10 more months. We told him that we will visit him once a week from here on out.

That’s about all from here down south.

I want you all to know that I know that God knows us and loves us more than we can imagine. He also knows what is best for us and we can always trust in him. I know that Jesus Christ is our savior and redeemer and knows all of our pains and doubts. I know that Joseph Smith was the prophet of the restoration and that He translated the book of Mormon. I know that the book of Mormon IS the word of God!

I love you guys so much and can’t believe that I am almost a quarter of the way done. I wish time would slow down, but that is just how life, or the mission is.

Love Elder Cahoon
