6 Months down 18 to go (that's Mom's title, Fonzy's had something to do with crack)
So, this week was pretty
weird to say the least. The first half of the week always sucks for teaching
because no one is home in the mornings and the sun is setting earlier in the
evenings so people usually don’t want to be bothered, but we usually try to
have good plans and back up plans. This week we needed back up plans for our back
up plans. The beginning of the week was difficult. Thursday we were in the
villa and went in to teach a lesson to our investigator that I had a lot of
hope that we could baptize, but he bought crack cocaine from another
one of our investigators. We weren’t sure what was going on, but Elder Smith
asked the guy two questions that shed some light on the situation. Number one,
are you and your wife married? Number two, do you have problems with alcohol,
tobacco or illegal drugs? He said “no” to both questions and then said that he
had smoked every now and then, drank every weekend and did crack cocaine every Saturday......
On a brighter note we
went to a villa we had never gone to and found one person named Sergio who came
to church yesterday. Yesterday we had 4 investigators in church and officially
matched my record in Quilmes! It was a weird week, but a mostly good week.
Today I bought a really cool bombilla that I have been looking at for quite a while.
We have a really cool
family that we are teaching that i really hope gets baptized but I will
probably not be there for that. They have to get married first.
I love you guys and
know the church is true. I know that God is our loving heavenly father and that
he knows and loves each and every one of us perfectly. I know that Jesus Christ
is our savior and redeemer. I know that joseph Smith was a prophet of God and
that this week we will hear a prophet of God speak to us and warn us. The Prophets
always warn us whether it is about physical or spiritual danger. This world is
and will keep getting harder to live in but if we keep the council of Helaman
and we build our foundation upon Christ we will be able to withstand the shafts
in the whirlwinds.
Love Elder Cahoon
