The Missionary, the book and the Russian Assasin

Well, this week was extremely exciting, and I have a lot of stories.

We have an investigator we nick-named crazy Miguel, he has a friend named Alexander. Alexander is always drunk and never was interested, and so we never tried to teach him. If he was at the house of Miguel we would include him in the lessons but he would always leave. On Wednesday we saw him and he motioned us over. He said that he had a ton of questions about the Book of Mormon and so we went over. After teaching him for a little bit he asked, "Ok, where will my soul go when I die? Because I have killed a lot of people,". We sat back and listened to a story of how he was in Russia during the Cold War and was forced to be part of the military. In this time he had special skills and the army transferred him to a special ops group that did two things, it destroyed villages and took out high priority targets during the Cold War conflicts. When he left the horrors of the things he had sown and seen caused him to turn to the only thing he could think of, alcohol. We taught him twice since that and he was not drunk the last time we talked to him because he wants to learn now.

The other story this week that I loved was a little later that same day. We were in a similar area and saw a teenager who we had seen before. He asked us for money because he was hungry and out of money. We were actually looking for his friend who was very interested and so we said that if he helped us we would all go grab a bite to eat. We stopped by the house of his friend and we went looking for a place to eat. We did and ended up at a corner store because everything was closed. Then we sat down with them and taught them lesson one about the restoration. A couple who lives next door to where we were came out and listened. We ended the lesson and the lady called us over. She said that she was interested in the church and wanted to learn more. We set a return appointment with them and invited them to church. We asked them if they knew where the chapel was and the husband said yes because he is a member. They came to church this week and said that he has wanted to go back to church for a long time and she has been interested and finally prayed and said that if this is the true church send the missionaries to their doorstep, and there we were! I have to go but God works in mysterious ways!
