Mate!
Mom I found your type of Mate (pronounced mah-tay)!!!!!
Missionaries in our mission can drink mate as of right now but we
have to follow the rules.
1 when we drink it has to be hot
2 we can only drink in the Pench (apartment)
3 we have to have our own Bombilla and Mate (straw and cup)
But other than that, we can drink in many ways. We can drink any
type of yerba and any with hot water or milk. We can use many things to flavor
the water. In the picture I am drinking mate celestial out of my zona
celestial mate. Mate celestial is any yerba that you want with coconut and hot
milk. It is my favorite way to drink mate but it is more expensive than how I
usually drink.
How are things at home? We are having a great time down here.
Elder Smith and I are working hard and having a lot of success. I think that we
will see a lot of cool things happen in the next little bit. One thing that
happened was that we came up with a way for the couple we are teaching (I don’t
know if I have told you about them) who works for the city to get married. They
work every day for the city and can’t leave or miss work to take out a date to
get married. We came up with the idea to have us go and take out the fetcha for
them. We pitched the idea to them and they loved it. They are going to pray
about it but I think that they will have us do that.
We have started working farther into the villa of Edmonte. During
my first transfer here, I had a feeling that we needed to work in that area and
we started in my second transfer here. Within one week we found one of the
people who we baptized and a lot of others who are interested.
This week was great but nothing noteworthy. We are working harder
and harder and finding a lot of people to teach. The picture I sent home last
week with the 4 missionaries and 4 baptisms was featured in the weekly email
the mission sends out.
I am reading the Book of Mormon every day in English and Spanish,
and in doing so I have gained a stronger testimony of the truthfulness of it. I
KNOW that this is the only true church. Joseph Smith was the Prophet of the
restoration and all those who have followed have also been prophets called by
God. They may not have been perfect but they are like all of us. They
tried to be better every day.
