Week Seven

Literally EVERYTHING has changed since the last e-mail but it is going great. I am finally in the mission field and it is hard, but amazing. My new companion is Elder Glenn and he is awesome. He was in this area for three months before we got here and he knows the area like the back of his hand.

We are in the City of Quilmes and our huge area is half of one ward. We had to take the train to get to stake conference yesterday in Berezetegui. Everyone enjoyed it but it would have been cooler because Elder Holland was going to go but he had to have hip surgery....... I think, that is just what we have been told.

We have a lot of investigators from all walks of life. We have our area split up into 4 sub areas 3 are big city but the other is really humble. The zones nickname is Zona Celestial. Our pench(apartment) is big. It has two bunk beds and has AC which is a huge blessing. We also have our own washing machine and drying rack, but we don't have and don't use what I thought would have been a necessary item...toilet paper. Instead wee have a BIDET.

There are two other Elders living with us right now because the offices are still trying to find them a pench. Today the Assistants to the president, office workers and a few other Elders invited us to go to Buen Comer, which was probably one of the best places we have eaten, although it was expensive. It was all you can eat Asado, tacos, ice cream, sushi, and so much more.

Elder Glenn has encouraged me to love Argintinian culture and to start by drinking yerba mate (a very earthy herbal tea). His old companion left me a mate (the cup) and bombilla (the straw) and so I have been drinking yerba mate pretty much every day. I decided to buy a new set today because the bombilla is starting to brake.

Weekly weird things:

1 The milk comes in bags
2 EVERYONE drinks mate
3 We take a lot of public transportation
4 Most people are not married because the government makes it extremely hard to.
5 "we are in Agentina" Elder Glenn

We have so many awesome people but I'll tell you about two. José and Jon are some new members from the poorer part but they are AWESOME. Elder Glenn and Dan found them on a raining day when they were getting soaked to the bone and were getting rejected. I literally have two minutes before we get charged for more time than we have but they will be huge in helping the work in their neighborhood.

love.
Elder Cahoon
