Will I stay or will I go?
This week we had a lot
of great lessons! We are teaching a man named Sergio. He came to church after
his first lesson which does not happen! We started teaching him lesson 4 which
are the commandments and he had told us that there are two things that he would
never give up cigarettes and mate. We had a great lesson with him this week and
he committed to set goals to stop smoking. I am not going to lie, if we had to
get people to give up mate people would probably throw us out of their houses.
This week we also finished teaching Maximiliano and Yanina all of the lessons. We are extremely excited to see them baptized on the 12th of May! We are going to continue to pass by twice a week and help them get married.
We found 3 P.F. or
part member families this week and I feel good about all of them. I think we
can help unite the families. We had a fantastic week.
One other lesson that
we had that was awesome was our Family Home Evening with the Chia Family. The
Chia Family is a part member family. We basically taught the first discussion
to them with videos! The two Brothers of Axel who had never heard the discussions
loved it and we have another cita with them later this week. Axel and his
family are awesome but the parents will have a hard time getting married,
because the two have to get divorced to get married.
This week on Friday or
Saturday I find out if I will stay in Quilmes for a few more weeks or if I will
leave. I love Quilmes, it is like my second home, I will gladly stay if it is
what God wants but I also hear that there are more areas, that have more people
who I can help. If I stay for one transfer more I will probably kill elder
smith (killing is a term in the missionary world meaning that I will be his
last comp) and if that happens I will probably stay for at least one transfer
after that, so I have no idea if I will stay.
I just wanted to end
by saying that I know that the church is true! I know that Joseph Smith was a
prophet of God and that he translated the book of Mormon through the power of
God! I know that I am here doing the work of God and pray every day that I can
find the people who I need to find that day. I know that Families can be
together forever and helping Maxi and Yanina has been an amazing experience. I
also know that everyone has the beautiful gift of agency and that we all chose
to be here. I know that God answers prayers. I love you all and can’t wait to
see you again, but until then Para siempre Dios este con Vos!
Love Elder Cahoon
