Week 14 (Happy New Year)

Last week was awesome. With Elder Glenn, being our district leader this transfer, and I have the opportunity to go on a lot of intercambios (I can’t remember the word in English to save my life, companion exchanges maybe?)  this transfer because he has to do one with every single elder in our district. We have the Assistants and the Offices in our district as well as the area of Plantanos. Last week I had the opportunity to go down to Plantanos to work in their area. It was pretty cool. We taught a lesson to a lady who tried to Bible bash with us saying that the Sabbath day should be on Saturday. After about five or ten minutes of hearing what I thought was a Bible bash I cut in and said. "Sorry, with all due respect your asking the wrong question. The only question that you have is and should be worried about is, “Is the Book of Mormon the word of God?”. Because if the Book of Mormon is the word of God than Joseph Smith was a Prophet and through him the only true church was restored on the earth. I know that you have questions, everyone has questions, but the only question you need to worry about is this. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God! I know Joseph Smith is the Prophet of the Restoration and I know you can too! Our message is simple. READ the book and ASK God if it is true, it is that easy." The lady who had been fired up wanting a fight calmed down and we were able to finish our message and leave.

We had a few other cool things happen as well. We had a challenge to speak with everyone who was wearing blue and knock every blue house. We found a really great new family during this challenge and we also re-found a family that had been interested in the gospel and gave us their address. We had gone to look for it last month and the address didn’t exist. We knocked on a blue house as we were walking to an appointment and it was them. The house numbers here are usually correct but every now and then you will have a number like 183 in between 451 and 455.

On New Year’s Eve we got woken up at midnight by fireworks that were everywhere. We watched them on our balcony for a little and then tried to go back to bed. The fireworks went off until 1:00 am give or take.

That was my week in a nutshell.

The book is blue and the word is true!

Love Elder Cahoon
