Week Ten
Well this was an interesting week with a lot of highs and lows. In
a lot of ways it reminds me of hunting. First the crazy. Last week we were in
the street and we talked to a lady. She appeared to be interested but she said
her dad who lives with her doesn't like religion. Her son gave us the house
number and we stopped by this week twice the first time she said that she was
busy. We came back and saw what she meant about her father being anti-religion.
We knocked on the door and her son came and said I'll go get my mom. Her dad
looked at us and said "(word neither one of us knew) Evangelist. Get off
my doorstep before I kill you" and slammed the door in our faces. We
walked away and laughed.
Our other cool experience this week was with an investigator we
found my first day out. We found him when Elder Glenn said ok the next house we
stop at will be one that you feel like will be good. A house on the road we
were on stood out and I said we should knock. We did and German came out and he
let us teach him. We kind of knew that he was feeling the spirit but we only
learned how strong when this week we asked him to pray and after he said that
during our lessons he had felt a warm heat on his head and then it flooded his
entire body.
Our craziest experience was with Gustavo. Gustavo was found during
a Tormenta Blanca (or white storm) which is when an entire zone goes to an area
that isn't doing as well. Tormenta Blanca happened before I entered the CCM and
the Assistants found Him. He was extremely interested and they put him on
Fetcha (they set a baptism date for him). They gave Elder Glenn and his old
companion Elder Dan his information and they could never find him. They told
the assistants that they were going to stop looking for him because he was
never there. We found him on Thursday this week and we learned how much power
Satan has on our investigators. He was mugged and he lost the card and his
phone both had our phone number on it. When we came into his house he told us
this great huge story apologizing the entire time about missing his baptism and
so we reset it.
Now for one of the things that kind of sucked this week. Sunday we
had 1 investigator attend church and we were expecting about 10. Agency is
honestly one of the hardest principles in la obra misional. Not to say we
aren't happy to have gotten the one but they have a different problem. We are
teaching a lot of unmarried couples and one of them agreed to get married this
week. We are extremely happy about that. I am learning Spanish fast and I know
it is because of El Don de Lenguas.
