Week Eleven

This week was awesome but short. This is week six in my first transfer in the mission field. This transfer went extremely fast. On Friday or Saturday we will get a call from our zone leaders telling us where we will spend the next six weeks. It is possible that both Elder Glenn and I will stay in this area (we both think this and hope this), however it is also possible that he will go and I will stay. It is unlikely but the other option is that we both get sent to a different area. We both hope and think that the most likely is that we both will stay for one more transfer. Most mission presidents say that if you are training that you will not be transferred but in a way that is kind of like boxing God in. We all tend to do that.

This week we had three investigators come to church. Two of them are living together and are not married. They are starting the process of getting married today. It has been very cool to watch them grow and progress. The same day that we taught them we explored an area on the map called villa de rio. Villas are plots of land where people don’t have to pay property tax to live there. Some villas can be large and small. The most dangerous place in an area or the safest, but they are almost always places where the extremely poor live. This was my first experience in a real villa. It was really humbling. We probably will spend a lot more time in villa de rio because we had a lot of people who were interested in our message. As we were down there we walked by the river and saw a ton of fish all over a foot long.

In a MTC devotional we watched Elder Bednar challenged us to read the Book of Mormon with the purpose of answering one question. He said that if we were to get a cheap Blue Book of Mormon and highlight all the verses that deal with that question. My question that I am trying to answer in my personal study is how can I become a better missionary? I challenge everyone to do that. It has been an awesome experience.

Love Elder Cahoon
